Management Team

Carey Ransom, CEO

Carey Ransom is an experienced Internet and software entrepreneur and executive, having started, grown and aided many technology companies during their startup and growth phases. His career spans executive roles in business development, strategy, marketing, sales and corporate development.

Prior to RealPractice, Carey was Vice President of Business Development at Brand Affinity Technologies (BAT), a startup in the Internet advertising and celebrity endorsement business. Before that, he was Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development at WebVisible, where he forged new partnerships with companies like AT&T and Microsoft. He also helped to create new lines of business which enabled WebVisible triple its revenue during his tenure. While at MessageRite (acquired by Frontbridge Technologies), Carey was Vice President of Sales & Marketing, leading the online communication storage and security start-up’s business, which was eventually acquired by Microsoft in 2005.

An industry innovator, Carey has spoken at software, search and online media conferences such as INBOX, The Kelsey Group, OMMA, and the Search Insider Summit. Carey’s expertise is identifying new partnership and revenue opportunities, product and technology initiatives, and creating and leveraging market trends.

Carey is an MBA graduate of the Anderson School of Business at UCLA. In addition, he holds a Certificate of E-Commerce from Loyola University Chicago and a B.A. in Economics from Indiana University.

 

 
 

 

Brad Cooper, Senior Vice President, Marketing & GM of Online Channels

Brad Cooper is a pioneer in the technology, small business and marketing industries with more than 20 years of experience at companies including Apple, Xerox, Adobe/Macromedia, WebVisible and MGM Studios. Prior to RealPractice, Brad was Vice President of Marketing, Operations and Business Development for CircleUp, a company that provided online communications software for small groups. There he helped increase the distribution base and site traffic to record level through white-label and co-branded partnerships with AOL, Active Networks and Blackbaud Software.

Prior to CircleUp, Brad was the Vice President of Media Operations for WebVisible, a provider of software and marketing services for small businesses and large reseller partners. While there, he and his team dramatically increased the performance and efficiencies of marketing programs related to key white label and co-branded software partnerships with Microsoft, American Express, AT&T, Intuit/Homestead and British Telecom. Before WebVisible, Brad oversaw marketing programs driving more than 10x growth in monthly recurring revenue/fundraising for World Vision, one of the world’s largest non-profit organizations.

A small business marketing expert, Brad’s articles have been published in Success magazine, ABA Law Practice Today, Peer to Peer magazine and other industry publications.

Brad is an award-winning marketer with extensive experience in online and offline channels, search and display advertising, PR, social media and email and retention marketing. Brad holds a BS degree in Marketing and Management from the University of Virginia.

 

 

Matt New, Vice President, Product

Matt heads up the product team for RealPractice, driving the product and services roadmap. Matt brings over 10 years of experience in managing products to the RealPractice team. Previously, Matt was at Ripple Networks, where he led the product development team, rolling out products to engage and monetize the Ripple audience. Before Ripple, Matt worked at Yahoo!, where he oversaw the Messenger product from 1999 to 2003 and the Music Engine product from 2003 to 2006 . Prior to Yahoo!, Matt was a program manager at ESPN, where he was pivotal in the development of several of the GameCast and other site products. Matt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley.

 

 

Claude Ciocan, Vice President, Engineering

As head of the engineering team, Claude Ciocan manages the architecture and development of RealPractice products and services, building reliable applications to support the continued growth of the company.

Claude brings 10 years of software engineering and management experience. Prior to RealPractice, he led the engineering team at Ripple Networks, where he designed and developed a nationwide retail IPTV network from the ground up. Prior to Ripple, Claude worked primarily as a software engineer at other early-stage technology companies including GoRemote, a broadband networking solutions provider, ThreatFocus, a security notification platform, and Random/Order, an interactive television company.

Claude holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
